Surviving a genocide demands unimaginable resilience and courage in the face of profound suffering and loss.
For years, Bosnia drowned in blood and tears as Serb forces ravaged our land, razed our homes to the ground, and forced us into concentration camps, servitude, and hiding. The ethnic cleansing resulted in tens of thousands of deaths of innocent civilians and the displacement of several million people from their homes. From the siege of Sarajevo to the Srebrenica Massacre (the second greatest loss of life on European soil since WW2), the world watched as they laid waste to everything we knew, but in the ashes of their hate we found the strength to survive in the place we once called home!

Poignant, Evocative, Resilient..... Alija Bulbul
Siniša’s story is a haunting yet poignant reflection of a childhood marked by war, one that resonates deeply with those who, like me, belong to the first generation born after the conflict. Though I have no personal memories of the war, I grew up in the shadows of its aftermath, hearing the stories of survival and resilience passed down by my parents, my aunt, and my grandmother. In this remarkable book, Siniša captures the heart-wrenching reality of what it meant to be a child during the siege of Sarajevo and the horrors of Europe’s largest ethnic cleansing campaign. His narrative is more than just a recount of events; it is a profound exploration of the human spirit’s capacity to endure and find hope amid the darkest of times. Siniša’s words are powerful and evocative, drawing you into his world and allowing you to see through his eyes the unimaginable atrocities he witnessed. Yet, through his narrative, he also weaves a tale of courage and survival, offering a deeply personal insight into the resilience of those who lived through the war.
Unflinching, Eye-opening..... Destin Lyons
This book details Sinisa's account of what it was like to live through the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Bosnia. The book is an easy read in the sense that you won't want to put it down once you start (I read it in 3 days); however, be ready for some tears, as Sinisa holds nothing back when recording the graphic details of what it's like to live through such an event. I had never heard of the Bosnian genocide until reading this book and am horrified at what took place. As someone who has a life of privilege in many ways, I feel it's important to keep abreast of what's happening in the world for those who do not have such lives. The events that took place in Bosnia should've never come to fruition, and I'm so beyond proud of Sinisa for being willing to mentally relive these events to shine a light on this important topic.

A must read!..... Ariana Williams
Such an impactful read! Couldn’t put it down while reading. This isn’t my typical genre to read but now I am looking for other books with firsthand experiences. I want to thank the author for being vulnerable and telling such a heavy story that needs to be heard.
Hard to put down!..... Josh Braud
Before I met siniša, I had never heard of the horrible ethnic cleansing in Bosnia. I’d never heard of the profound loss and terror so many innocent people had to face. This book truly details a story of survival, fear, and grief. It is beautifully written, and you can truly capture every emotion and every detail that the author is trying to portray. Not only is this book hard to put down, it is something everyone needs to know about. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone I know.
An Emotional Journey..... Stephen
Honestly, I knew very little about the horrors the people of Bosnia faced. I began reading this book and didn’t put it down until I finished it. To someone that doesn’t know me, you wouldn’t know that it takes a lot for me to finish a book. From chapter 1, it’ll have you completely invested in the story. If you’re on the fence about buying it… DO IT, you won’t regret it.
Moving and Inspiring story..... William Blake Belvin

It is deeply moving and touching. It also comes at a time when others throughout the world are going through similar experiences. We can all learn a great deal from Siniša and his family. Highly recommend to all.
